Paul F. McBride, Jr. died peacefully at home in Houston on May 6, 2013. He was born in Bartlesville, OK to Elizabeth and Paul Francis McBride on January 27, 1924. At the age of four he moved with his parents to Shreveport, La and graduated from Byrd High School. After completion of service in the United States Navy in World War II, he graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in mechanical engineering. He had a long career in the natural gas pipeline industry, designing, constructing , and managing pipeline systems.
A community leader always, Paul served as elder and deacon in the Presbyterian churches, President of the Red Cross, volunteer leader of the Salvation Army, and active member of the Low vision Club of Houston. He also was very active with his son in the Boy Scouts. Paul enjoyed sailing, hunting, golf, waterskiing, tennis and fishing, and much time at his family camp on Cane River.
Preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth McBride.
Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pattie, daughter Marilyn and her husband Greg and their daughter Hanna, and son Paul F. McBride III and his daughters, Ashley and Kelsey. Also, he is survived by his beloved Coogan family and Ben and Sarah , and the Dedeaux family from New Orleans - Carol, Dawn, Devra, Devin, and David.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 11, in the Sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church 11:00 AM, 5300 Main Street Houston, TX 77004. Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church or Seasons Hospice Care email@example.com
