Lois was born on March 24, 1929 in Hope, AR to John and Mable Ames. She passed away on September 28, 2013 in Shreveport, LA following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She moved to Shreveport where she met and married the love of her life, James Beck. She was a dedicated caregiver throughout her nursing career. She was retired from General Electric as an Occupational Nurse. From patching up scrapped knees and elbows, giving neighbors allergy shots, caring for ailing family and friends and even with her memory failing, she continued to be the "nurse" and caregiver for those around her.
She was a Godly woman and lived her life to glorify her Lord and Savior. She attended Benton United Methodist and Emmanuel Baptist Churches. She was a true southern lady who loved to entertain and always opened her heart and home to friends and family. She was artistic and loved to paint Santas. She could always capture the sparkle and magic in St. Nick's eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 64 years, James Lee Beck. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Steve Beck and wife, Sherrie; daughter, Carol Hine and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Barron Carroll and wife, Corinne, John Mark Carroll and wife, Chelle, Angel Mock and husband, Aaron, Brent Hine and wife, Jeanne, Chris Beck and wife, Amy and Sarah Monchak and husband, Adam; great-grandchildren, Anderson, Ames and Ella Carroll, Will, Avery and Abby Hine, Lillie and Carter Mock, Olivia, Abigail and Noah Monchak and Sammy Beck.
We love you so much Mom/GMa. You are now clear of mind and pain free. We know you and Dad/GPa are both smiling and now walking hand in hand in your heavenly home.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
