Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Raymond Duane Boswell, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Murray Hodge. Interment with full military honors will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
We celebrate the life of Raymond Duane Boswell who was born on August 13, 1931 in San Antonio, TX. He was a strong, kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He passed away on December 18, 2013 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.
Mr. Boswell served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Vietnam and was also involved in an atomic test in the Nevada Desert in 1955. Raymond retired after 20 years from the Army and then went on to be an R.O.T.C. instructor for the Caddo Parish School Board at North Caddo High School in Vivian, La for 21 years.
Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Elizabeth Boswell.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Raymond is his wife of 58 years, Sally Boswell; sons, Tom Boswell, and Mike Boswell and wife Michele; daughter, Crissy Parikh and husband Roger; and six grandchildren, Brian Boswell and wife Perla, Carter Boswell, John-Michael Boswell, Sarah Boswell, Cameron Parikh and Caroline Boswell. He is also survived by his Aunt, Charlene Cunningham of Bowie, TX.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks and sincere appreciation to Dr. P.V. Blanchard and staff for some 30 plus years of care, as well as, Dr. Roy Fleniken and the staff at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home and special caregivers, Tina and Glenda Britt for their loving care of Raymond.
Honoring Mr. Boswell as pallbearers will be: Col. (Ret) Richard Miller, Col. (Ret) Steve Gibson, Michael Mayence, Paul McCullough, Mike Simmons and Dewey (Bubba) Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be: The Four Seasons Sunday School Class at Summer Grove Baptist Church.
