Johnnie Joseph Cascio

SHREVEPORT, LA - Johnnie Joseph Cascio went to be with the Lord and Chetta the love of his life on Saturday January 25, 2014 at the age of 95. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday January 30, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Marshall St, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Father Charles Glorioso. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Chetta Miciotto Cascio; parents, Rosario and Concetta Cascio; brothers Albert, Sam and Peter Cascio and sister Connie Aston. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Roy J. (Charlotte) Cascio, Andrew J. (Angie) Cascio and Michael A. Cascio; daughter Connie Cascio (Tom) Norton; 11 grandchildren Chris Cascio, Cathy Almand, Andrea Williams, Angela Greenlee, John Norton, Eric Norton, Ashley Timmons, Alicia Cascio, April Paikowski, Jason Cascio, Allison Cascio; Brothers Angelo, Anthony, and George Cascio; sisters Camille Matassa, Rosina Cascio and Mary Jane O'Brien; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Johnnie was born on December 23, 1918, and was a 1ST generation Italian, Proud American WWII Veteran, 85th Division 318 Field Artillery. He was a member of the American Legion and Holy Name Society. He was a Member of Holy Trinity Parish and an usher for over 25 years. He was the recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honor in 2001. He was a valued employee of Santa Maria Produce. They were family and part of his life for over 60 years. One of Johnnie's greatest loves was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Honoring Johnnie as pallbearers will be Chris Cascio, Jason Cascio, John Norton, Eric Norton, Tom Norton and Walter Marion Wise.

Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, brothers and sisters.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Charlotte Cascio, daughter in-law; Emma Robinson and Ruth Thomas for the love and care they gave to Johnnie. The family would also like to thank the staff of the NWLA War Veterans Home, Wing 2 and Life Care Piermont for their caring compassion.
