Hudson Edward Pharr

Springhill, LA - Funeral services for Mr. Hudson Edward Pharr, age 102, will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ronald Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Pharr was born on September 25, 1911 to Hudson and Jewel Sumner Pharr and died on March 8, 2014 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital. He was a resident of The Waterford at Shreveport, LA and a member of First Baptist Church in Springhill, LA. He served in the Air Force during WWII as a Mess Sergeant and was a retired employee of Marathon Oil with 31 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He dearly loved his family and was known to his family as Uncle Boot.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Eloise Bruce Pharr of 41 years and Glenn Allen Pharr of 13 years; brothers, Portal Pharr, Joie Pharr; sister, Gladys Pharr McEachern; and niece, Jan Graham.

He is survived by nieces; Barbara Powell and husband Billy of Sante Fe, TX, Sandy Ates and husband Rodger of Point Blank, TX, Brenda Steel and husband Bob of Lindale, TX, Rena Denmon of Springhill, LA, Mary McDaniel and husband Sherman of Grand Prairie, TX, and Cherry Covington of Springhill, LA; nephew, Jerry Pharr and wife Marilyn of Plain Dealing, LA; step daughter Nelda Spence of Bossier City, LA; sister-in-law, Sarah Pharr; twelve great nieces and nephews, twelve great-great nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be nephews.
