William Douglas Colvin

Services for William Douglas Colvin, age 87, of Ruston will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. Interment will be at the Colvin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Colvin passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Northern Louisiana Medical Center.

Mr. Colvin was born in Dubach, Louisiana February 7, 1927.

Mr. Colvin was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a retired educator serving as teacher, coach, high school principal and supervisor. Coach Colvin was inducted into the Louisiana High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January 2005.

Mr. Colvin was preceded in death by his parents: Delaine L. Colvin and May Larance Colvin; and brothers: Belton Colvin and Luther Colvin.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years: Betty Burgess Colvin of Ruston; daughter: Julie Odom and husband Reagan of Mobile Alabama; granddaughters: Natalie Corley and husband Chris and Lindsey Sterling and husband David of Mobile Ala.; sister-in-law: Lanene of Dubach, Louisiana; and nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Danny Crawford, Gill Colvin, Bobby Colvin, John Sutton, Pete Colvin, Charles C. Fuller and Dr. William Green.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the sitters and caregivers over the last 3 years and 5 months period.

In lieu of flowers planned memorial may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Louisiana Children's Methodist Home or charity of donor's choice.

Visitation will be held from 9: 00 AM till service time on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church.
