PIQUA — Dorothy J. Vance, 89, of Piqua, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Brookdale Senior Living Sterling House of Piqua.
She was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Shelby County to the late Walter L. and Elsie H. (Sloan) Rodehafer. She married Clarence W. Meyers Dec. 1, 1946; he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1974. She then married William Vance Sept. 24, 1981; he preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, James W. (Ruth Ann) Meyers, of Piqua, and Gary Lee (Elaine) Meyers, of Troy; two grandchildren, April Rose (Kristi) Meyers, Richard William Meyers and fiance, Nicole Dross-Rhoades; five great-grandchildren, Abbee Lynn, Alisha Marie, Ahna Leigh, Alyx Renee', Bailey; a stepgranddaughter, Michelle Crusoe; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Jazmyn and Dylan.
Mrs. Vance was a 1943 graduate of Sidney High School and was a wonderful homemaker all of her life. She had been an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church and its Choir.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart and Chaplain Ivan Shawver co-officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
