SIDNEY — Danny Lee Howell, 67, of 15315 Fort Loramie-Swanders Road, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his home on the farm surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1947, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Ruth (Liess) Howell of Anna, Ohio.
Danny is survived by his parents; two children, Jason (Jessica) Howell, of Sidney, and Kristi (Shaun) Anthony, of Covington, Ohio; three grandchildren, Landon, Lane and Layla Howell; two sisters, Judy Krebs, of Spring Grove, Pa., and Rita (Terry) Blakeman, of Sidney; one brother, Ronald (Sherry) Howell, of Sidney; and one sister-in-law, Sue Howell, of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Howell.
Mr. Howell was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era in the 543rd Transportation Company. Following his military service, he was employed at Emerson Climate Technologies for the past 46 years. Danny was a lifelong member of Anna United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sidney VFW, Ohio Spotted Association and the Farm Bureau. Danny was a full-time farmer and owner of Howell Stock Farm in which he raised champion spotted hogs and harvested crops. His hobbies included raising show pigs, teaching his kids and grandkids about 4-H and hard work, spending time with his family, and giving a helping hand to anybody in need.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. Randy Locker officiating. Burial with full military honors, will be at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice Care or Anna Livestock 4-H Club in memory of Danny Lee Howell. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
