SIDNEY — A. Louise Dunlap, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at her assisted living residence at Dorothy Love Retirement Community.

She was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Stanford, Ky., the daughter of Sam and Esther (Long) Baugh. She grew up in Piqua, Ohio, and graduated from Piqua High School. She married Harold Dunlap on Nov. 26, 1939, and the newlyweds moved to Sidney to start their married life together. He preceded her in death, March, 10, 2004. Four sisters, Edith (John) Hartley, Freda Taylor, Ruth (Jahue) Phillips, Wilma (Robert) Neves and one brother, Donald (Dodie) Baugh also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son John (Nettie), of Sidney, and a daughter Julie (Jeff, deceased) Milligan, of Delaware, Ohio. A daughter, Jean (James) Aylsworth is deceased. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, son-in-law James Aylsworth of Medina, Ohio, brother-in-law Robert Neves of Piqua and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dunlap worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Piqua prior to her marriage. For more than 25 years she owned and operated the Sidney Hostess Service welcoming newcomers to the community, visiting parents with new babies, as well as golden anniversary, newly married and engaged couples. A wide variety of Sidney merchants, churches and civic organizations strongly supported her community efforts of selling Sidney. She was active as a leader in the Girl Scouts for many years and was a long time member of Holy Angels Parish, Altar Rosary Society and Newman Club.

In her leisure she was an avid Scrabble and Bridge player and enjoyed keeping up with worldwide current events, the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, the Ohio State Buckeyes and professional golf. Her loving and caring ways, infectious smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and those who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Cromes Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, with the Rev. Dan Hess presiding. Internment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua.

Donations in her memory may be made to Dorothy Love Life Care Fund or Wilson Memorial Hospital Hospice.
