FORT LORAMIE — Adella B. (Schmidt) Schlater Henke, 98, formerly of Ohio 66, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes early Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 2014, at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, where she had been a resident since 2004.

She was born Aug. 21, 1916, at Yorkshire, to John J. and Elizabeth M. (Sturwold) Schmidt. On June 1, 1938, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Osgood, Adella married August A. Schlater; he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1957. On Oct. 18, 1958, she was married to Julius H. Henke at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie; he preceded her in death on June 17, 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Diane E. and Daryl Plessinger of Versailles; two grandsons, Jesse and Heather Plessinger, of Cincinnati, and Joshua and Emily Plessinger, of Versailles; five great-grandchildren, Cayley, Joshua, Jessa, Maria and Joseph Plessinger; one sister, Henrietta and Sam Doseck, of Fort Loramie; two sisters-in-law, Marie Schmidt, of Vandalia, Viola Schmidt, of Yorkshire; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends of the family, Donald, Desiree and Dalton Brogaard, of Coldwater.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence and Ruth Schmidt, Leo Schmidt and Raymond Schmidt, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law from the Schlater and Henke families.

Adella was a homemaker and attended St. Michael Catholic Church. She had also been a member of St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, Shelby County Right to Life, Name of the North (Widows & Widowers Club), the Fort Loramie ladies euchre club and was a past president of St. Michael's Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a founding member of Walk-Up Country Club and Henke's Lake (Fenners).

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with the Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
