Albert Boerger

LANCASTER, Pa. — Albert L. Boerger, of Lancaster, entered into rest on his 93rd birthday, Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at his East Hempfield Township home. He was the husband of Helen Jane (Markert) Boerger. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Sept. 22.

Albert had retired in 1985 from RCA, Lancaster, after 34 years of service.

Born Nov. 12, 1922, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, he was the son of German Immigrants, the late Albert G. and Catherine (Barhorst) Boerger. A devout Catholic, Albert was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lancaster and a former long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Columbia. Albert was a proud WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran having served from March 1943 until October 1945.

Also surviving are four children, Michael, married to Pat Bard, of Elizabethtown, Lawrence, married to Deborah Kauffman, of Lancaster, David, married to Laurel Shaw, of Columbia, and Theresa married to Stephen Carey, of Manheim; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three siblings, Harold, of Leesburg, Florida, Eileen Wagner, of Sidney, Ohio, and Elizabeth Yeazell, of St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was also preceded in death by siblings; Urban Boerger, Virginia Prueter, Walter Boerger, Mildred Boerger, Veronica Unverferth, Patricia Pulfer and James Boerger.

Mass of Christian Burial from St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was held Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel as the celebrant. Interment will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania, with military honors at the convenience of the family.
