QUINCY — Charles Auguston Schweitzer, 92, of Quincy, passed away at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, in Pemberton.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1923, in Botkins, Ohio, the son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Platfoot) Schweitzer. On Oct. 29, 1947, Charles married Martha Louise Ott who preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2014.

Charles is survived by his six children: William (Judith) Schweitzer of Buckhamdam, Texas, Norma (Bruce) Terry of Sidney, David Schweitzer of Quincy, Ohio, Virgil Schweitzer of Taylor, Texas, Stephen (Judy) Schweitzer of Pemberton, Ohio, and Joyce (Lawrence) Day, Jr. of Maplewood, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Korn, and six siblings: Helen Gepfrey, Leonard, Cora, Elmer, Rita, and Orville Schweitzer.

Mr. Schweitzer was a World War II veteran proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1943-1945. Charles was a retiree of the Copeland Corporation and enjoyed outdoor activities, like fishing and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Schweitzer family at the funeral home's website,
