SIDNEY - Christeen Brown 84, of 217 Forest St., passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at 4:25 a.m. at Heartland of Piqua, where she had resided for the past month.
She was born on Feb. 6, 1928, in Yamacraw, Ky., the daughter of the late Osborn and Dora (Martin) Worley. In 1946, she married Cecil Brown Sr., who preceded her in death in December 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Brown Sr. and wife, Claire, and Steve Brown both of Sidney; three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Estelina) Coverstone, Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Hamilton and Mrs. Mike (Dawn) Hazlett, all of Sidney; 18 grandchildren, Roger Brown Jr., Craig Brown, Jeanne Vonaschen, Jamie Coverstone, Tina Hayslett, Linda Hamilton, Austina Cotrell, Jessica Davis, Karen Freidet, Eric Douglas, Heather Goubeaux, Kim Parfait, Keith Brown, Joe Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Robert Curtis, Chris Brown and Kara Brown; 26 great-grandchildren, Andrea Day, Nathan Day, Luke Goubeaux, Evan Goubeaux, Wesley Parfait, Kevin Taylor, Robert Curtis Jr. Brandon Taylor, Cain Taylor, Kayllin Taylor, Jerick Brown, Carolyanne Cantrell, Bethany Hayslett, Britney Hayslett, Jayden Davis, Haydon Cotrell, Ryan Edwards, Brooke Vonaschen, Cole Edwards, Jake Edwards, Taylor Coverstone, Gage Castle, Adian Spaulding, Carson Spaulding, Elliot Spaulding and Alexandria Douglas; and one sister, Sharon Sellars, of Stearnes, Ky.
She was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Brown Jr.; three brothers, Movan Worley, Adolf and Burtain; one sister, Mildren; and one grandson, Bradley Vonaschen.
Mrs. Brown retired from the Copeland Corp. in 1991 after many years of service with the company.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. Leamon Branscum officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Christeen Brown. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
