MARIA STEIN — Cyril F. Overman, age 86 of 1495 State Route 716, Maria Stein, died at 7:38 p.m. at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.

He was born July 10, 1927, in Maria Stein, to the late Louis and Rosina (Rolfes) Overman. He married Elizabeth Ann, "Betty" Overman on Oct. 3, 1953, in Osgood. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2013.

He is also survived by his children, Deb and Roger Kremer, St. Henry, Howard and Pat Overman, New Bremen, Tammy and Lou Schwieterman, Montezuma, Bonnie and Jim Rutschilling, Celina, Frank and Jayne Overman, New Bremen, Lisa and Tony Goecke, Liberty, Ind., Mandy and Lester Fleck, St. Sebastian; son-in-law, Gary Rose, St. Sebastian; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Gerlach, St. Henry, Louis and Joan Overman, Maria Stein, Marilyn and Bill Braun, Columbus, Joan Overman, Celina, Alma Overman, Dayton; and in-laws, Bernice Frey, Osgood, Marian and Walter Braun, St. Rose, Marilyn Homan, Coldwater, Alberta and Willard Bruns, St. Sebastian, Juliana Frey, Fort Loramie, Herbert Hoying, Sidney, and Bernie Frey, Dayton.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Joyce Rose, brothers and sisters, Viola and Norbert Dippold, Alvina and Bernard Hemmelgarn, Richard and Alma Overman, Linus Overman and Otmar Overman, in-laws Dorothy Hoying, Lucille and Andrew Bergman, Ralph and Esther Frey, Alvin Frey and Vernon Frey, Donald Homan.

Cy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Men's Sodality of the church and the Church Choir. He was a member of the American Legion, Maria Stein, and the former manager of the Legion Bar. He was a member of the Marion Local Athletic & Band Boosters and active in all Youth Activities.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. Cy worked formerly worked for Maria Stein Grain and retired from Minster Machine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Brenberger, celebrant. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery with full military honors.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.
