Donald Ervin

PIQUA — Donald B. Ervin, 84, of Piqua, passed away at 9:23 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, in Piqua Manor.

Born Oct. 2, 1932, in Pike Township near New Carlisle, Don was a son of the late Thomas I. and Mavilla (Baker) Ervin. He married Patricia Meyer, June 18, 1960, and together they raised three children, two of whom survive: Thomas (Jennifer) Ervin, of Conover, and Larry Ervin of Piqua. He was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren, AJ (Jessica) Ervin, Megan (Ryan) Overman, Ashley (Eric) Percel, Amber Owen; and three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Lucy and Nolan. Don is also survived by three brothers, Richard Ervin, of Sidney, Robert Ervin, of Port Jefferson, Lloyd (Jeanie) Ervin, of Piqua; two sisters, Elizabeth Wilson, of Thackery, and Nancy (Albert) Minton, of Christiansburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a son, Kenneth Ervin; a brother, Roger Ervin; and an infant sister preceded him in death.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He retired in 1994 from B.F. Goodrich, Troy. He enjoyed racing stock cars, playing his guitar and fishing.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 11 a.m., in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Rev. Dale Schaefer of Covenant Lutheran Church, St. Paris, presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery with military honors by the V.E.T.S.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service, beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the or the Parkinson's Association. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.shivelyfuneralhomes.com.
