Earl F. Sever Jr. (1921 - 2016)

PIQUA — Earl F. Sever Jr., 95 of Piqua, passed away Sunday July 3, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living, Piqua.

He was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Dayton to the late Earl F. and Beaulah K. (Routzahn) Sever Sr.

He married his high school sweetheart, Thelma V. Fuls July 30, 1942, she preceded him in death July 17, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Earl F. "Lynn" (Nancy J.) Sever III, of Piqua; two grandsons, Earl F. "Randy" (Heather) Sever IV and James (Melanie) Sever, all of Piqua; and four great-grandchildren, Earl F. "Brandyn" Sever V, Hayden J. Sever, Devon J. Sever, Dylon J. Sever.

Mr. Sever was a 1939 graduate of Fairmont High School where he was known as an outstanding athlete in several sports.

Additionally, he was comfortable on stage for various productions including as a Comedian.

Professionally, he continued the family business, Piqua Steel Company/ PSC Crane & Rigging Company which was founded by his father in 1933, serving as its president for many years and maintained his interest in operations throughout his life.

He had been a member of the Piqua Country Club, Border City Luncheon Club, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks where he served as its Exalted Ruler, the Miami County YMCA, Warren Masonic Lodge 24 and a Charter Life Trustee of the Piqua Community Foundation. He loved his family, enjoyed golfing with the Golden Boys Golf Club and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns.

He will be remembered for his kindness to others and his quiet support of many positive initiatives in Piqua and the surrounding areas.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. James R. Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
