Edna Prenger

MINSTER — Edna M. Prenger, 91, of Minster, died shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Versailles Health Care Center, where she had been a resident since April 1, 2007. She had been suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease since 2005.

She was born on Jan. 7, 1923, near St. Henry, the daughter of the late Urban and Augusta (Muhlenkamp) Link.

Edna is survived by her immediate family, her daughter. Marsha K. Scott. of Statesville, N.C., and her son Richard (Rick) Meyer and his wife, Deborah, of Minster.

Edna's three grandchildren are (Marsha's) Billy W. Scott and his wife, Brandy, of Statesville, N.C., and (Rick's) Eric A. Meyer from Fairfield, and Lindsay C. Hunter and her husband, Sean, from Cincinnati.

Edna's five great-grandchildren, from her grandson Billy, are his son, Braden, and daughter, Bailey; from her grandson Eric, his sons, Caleb and Luke, and daughter, Hannah; and from her granddaughter Lindsay, her daughters, Greta and Elsa.

Edna's surviving family members are her brother, Ralph and his wife, Esther, Link of Dayton, and her sister, Bernice and her husband, Charles, Stacey of Flemingsburg, Ky.

Edna was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin C. Link, Viola Leugers, Hulda Feltz and Eileen H. Ranly.

Also proceeding her in death are Edna's first husband Arthur L. Meyer (July 31, 1988), they were married on Sept. 4, 1943, and her second husband, Leo B. Prenger (Sept 1, 2007), they were married on March 10, 1990. Edna also had a stepmother, Celesta M. (Fullenkamp) Link from her father's second marriage, proceeding her in death on Sept. 4, 1994.

Edna operated her women's hair styling business "Edna's Beauty Shop" in Minster from 1961 until 1989, upon her retirement. She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Minster and a past charter member of the Minster Eagles 1391 Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer in the Minster, Arrowhead Park G.C. women's golf league, she also enjoyed the competition and friendship with her ladies bridge club and participated in the women's Tuesday night bowling league at Community Lanes in Minster until she was 83 years old. Edna's greatest love in life was to sing and go to dances, she always kept the residents of Versailles Health Care Center entertained with her singing.

Friends and relatives are welcome to extend their condolences at the N. J. Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. and conclude with burial at St. Augustine Cemetery after Mass. The Rev. Rick Nieberding will be celebrant.
