FLETCHER - The Rev. Gary L. Williams, 59, of Fletcher passed away at 3:56 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 in his residence. He was born Feb. 27, 1953 in Troy, the son of Glenna (Baker) Williams of Fletcher and the late Gilbert Williams. He married his wife of 39 years, the former Yvonne Leigh on Dec. 15, 1973, and she survives.
Together they raised two children: Jason (Joy) Williams of Rushsylvania and Angela (Lucas) Woodward of Fletcher. He was a loving grandfather to four granddaughters: Leeah, Paige, Katelyn and Bella. Gary is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law: Tim and Sandy Williams of Conover and several extended family members.
He was a 1972 graduate of Piqua High School and received a bachelors degree from the Zanesville branch of Ohio University. In 1980 he graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton with a Masters of Divinity degree. Gary served as a pastor in Darke County, Logan County, and in Sidney, Spencerville and Crooksville.
He was a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church and served on the administrative board and as an interim pastor. Gary was an administrator at Honda of Marysville. He and Yvonne enjoyed collecting.
Visitation and funeral services will be held all in one day on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 in the Fletcher United Methodist Church, 205 S. Walnut Street, Fletcher. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Masonic services by the Stokes Lodge 305 Free and Accepted Masons of Port Jefferson will be at 1 p.m.
Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastors Andy Perry of Fletcher United Methodist Church, Greg Leigh and Raymond Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Gary's name may be made to the Fletcher United Methodist Church, 205 S. Walnut Street, Fletcher, OH 45326. Envelopes will be available in the church.
Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, is serving the family.
