SIDNEY — George William Rodgers, 74, of 333 E. North St, Sidney, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at 7:58 a.m. at his home.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Waterloo, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Irene (Miller) Rodgers.

On June 30, 1963, he married Anna May Yerkey who survives along with four children, Denise (David) Huffman, Kurt Rodgers, both of Fort Loramie, Juanita (Darrell) Barham, of Jackson Center, and Georgeanna (Paul) Francis, of Sidney; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three siblings.

Mr. Rodgers was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, serving his country as an E5 Drill Sergeant from 1960 to 1962. He retired from the Stolle Corp. in Sidney. He was a member of Northland Church in Sidney for 40 years, where he served as deacon. He loved the Lord, and the Lord took him home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with the Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m at the funeral home.
