MINSTER — Helen Louise Watkins, 87, of Minster, formerly of Sidney, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 1, 2015, at her home.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1927, in Quincy, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Lena (Flora) Ward. On Dec. 28, 1944, she married Wright Watkins, who preceded her in death March 27, 1983.

She is survived by six children, Philip (Jayne) Watkins and Nancy (Chuck) Casey, both of Sidney, Ruth (James) Harris, of DeGraff, Patsy Watkins and fiancé,' Bob Kendall, Jenny (Henry) Sanchez and Carl (Teresa) Watkins, all of Minster; one sister, Maxine Clark, of DeGraff, three brothers, Harold Ward, of Minster, Richard (Janice) Ward, of Maplewood and Dale (Brenice) Ward, of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Paul Edward Watkins, one brother, Cecil Ward, and one sister, Irene Spangler.

Mrs. Watkins was a homemaker and volunteered more than 2,000 hours at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was a lifetime member of the Compromise Grange, and was an avid card player. She enjoyed fishing with sisters, brothers and nieces, and camping with family and friends. She loved her Ohio State basketball games, as well as watching The University of Dayton basketball team and the Cincinnati Reds. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with Pastor Jack Chalk officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
