SIDNEY — James David Baker Sr., age 66, of Sidney, died on Oct. 16, 2014, at Dayton VA Medical Center.

He was born in Sidney on Oct. 4, 1948, to the late Marion and Martha (Tebbe) Baker. On July 24, 1971, he married Diana L. Runyon. She survives.

James is also survived by two sons, James D. Baker Jr., San Diego, California, and Mark A. Baker, Sidney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Laura Baker, Atlanta, Georgia, and Ronald and Debra Baker, Bellefontaine; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Albert) Sommers, Nancy (Michael) Nolte, Connie Rosenbeck and Barbara (Ronald) Burton, all of Sidney.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Baker.

James was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney. He was also a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217, VFW Post 4239, DAV and the Shelby County Marine Corps League. James proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He loved to travel and loved classic cars.

Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Nov. 10, 2014, at Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
