SIDNEY — James Edmond Nelson, age 71, of Sidney, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.

James was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 12, 1943, to the late Louis Edmond Nelson and Mame Suzanne Karrie. James was married to Anita Marlene Mullins, of Fayetteville, West Virginia, on Nov. 27, 1970, in Indiana.

Together they raised two children, Alisha Nelson Johnson and Travis Edmond Nelson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Braiden Lee Johnson, Adalynn Nichole Ludwig and Elijah James Nelson; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon Moles Mullins, of Mount Hope, Washington, Terri Stanley and husband Tommy, John Benjamin Mullins, Tina Bays and husband Greg, all of Fayetteville, West Virginia; nieces and nephew, Dallas Moles, Shawn Stanley, Justin and Jason Stanley, John Adams Mullins, Beth Cramer, Laura Harrell, Michelle Bays, Stacy McCall, Clyde McCull Jr.; one aunt, Joan Trantham, of Milwaukie, Oregon; one uncle, Jerry Anderson, of Fairbanks, Alaska.

James was also preceded in death by his mother-n-law, Opal Marie Mullins; brother-in-laws, James Clyde Mullins II, June Keith Mullins; sister-in-law, Jeneva McCall; and one niece, Loretta Lynn Mullins.

James served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era and had retired from the Copeland Corp. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, of Sidney. James life was centered on loving Jesus. He loved playing music in church. On many occasions, James also shared his musical talents at the Fair Haven Nursing Home and the Sidney Care Center. His family meant the world to him and every day, he would always pray for his children to seek Jesus and serve and walk with Him.

James enjoyed spending time with the children taking them camping and fishing. He especially enjoyed riding bikes with his grandson Braiden and reading books to his granddaughter, Adalynn. James had a special affection for his grandson Elijah. Elijah's smile and big blue eyes always melted James's heart. He will be deeply missed by them all.

Friends and family may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio. Funeral services for James will follow at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Inman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery with full military services provided by Sidney American Legion post 217.
