PIQUA — James L. Scott, 76, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord at 5:38 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, in Troy.

He was born April 2, 1938, in Ransom, Kentucky, to the late Jonah and Georgia A. (Sullivan) Scott. He married Nancy L. Boyd on Oct. 28, 1961, in Matewan, West Virginia; she preceded him in death on May 24, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, James R. (Tina) Scott, of Covington, and Jarrod R. Scott, of Troy; a daughter, Joy L. (Bill Plunkett) Magnuson, of Troy; five grandchildren, Anastasia Myers, Kory Magnuson, Kendra Magnuson, Kiel Scott, Kobe Scott; a great-granddaughter Annaleigh Scott; a brother Lonnie (Rosalie) Scott, of Piqua; four sisters, Rita (Bill) Carter, of Houston, Loretta (Larry) Haynes, of Piqua, Karoline (Floyd) Canada, of Pikeville, Kentucky, Nyda Scott, of Piqua; a sister-in-law, Donna Scott; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Scott.

Mr. Scott was a 1956 graduate of Belfry High School of Belfry, Kentucky, and worked as a welder most of his life at the former Aerovent Fan Company and Hobart Brothers. He attended the Freewill Baptist Church. He was a proficient mechanic having enjoyed working on automobiles.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennie Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
