SIDNEY — John Fleming, 87, 2425 Armstrong Drive, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at 6:55 p.m. at the Fair Haven Shelby County Home.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1927, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Francis M. and Mabel L (Carey) Fleming. On May 2, 1986, he married Rebecca E. Doa,k who survives along with three stepchildren, Angela Walker Parish (Shane), of Haslet, Texas, Scott Walker, of Sidney, and Darren Walker (Kim Williamson), of Anna, Ohio; five stepgrandchildren, Tara Adkins, Darrien Walker, Emily Parish, Kaitlyn , Gabriel and Kierstyn Williamson; one stepgreat-grandson, John Brown; and two brothers, Sherman Fleming and his wife, Sara, and James Fleming and his wife, Darlene, both of Sidney.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Mr.Fleming retired in 1993 as National Customer Relations Manager from Norcold Corporation where he had worked for 43 years. John was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217 and the DAV. After retirement, John enjoyed working in his yard and gardening and helping family members work on their homes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with Pastor Tim Bartee officiating. Burial with military honor's provided by Sidney American Legion will be at Glen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home .
