SIDNEY — John Allen Mann Jr., 83, of Sidney, passed away at 5:42 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Wilson Health.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Miami County, Ohio, the son of the late John Allen Sr. and Nellie (Herron) Mann.

On March 15, 1957, he married Rosalyn Marie Johnston, who survives along with three children, Timothy Allen Mann, Debra Lynn (Jeff) Wagner and Sherri Kay (Ken) Jensen; seven grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Wagner, Betsy (Danny) Kimbler, Justin (Megan) Wagner, Megan (Ryan) Schlater, Shayna Mann, Andrew Jensen, and Aaron Jensen; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Mann; sister-in-law, Hazel Johnston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Lee Palmer, and one sister, Phyllis Knouff.

Mr. Mann was retired from Copeland, where he worked for 37 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the Sidney American Legion Post 217. He enjoyed genealogy and researching his family tree. John was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and took great pride in his family. He served as a cub scout leader while his children were young, and continued his loving support of family in attending his grandchildren's various events and activities.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Sidney First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial with military honors performed by the Sidney American Legion will be at Pearl Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave.
