SIDNEY — John Wallace Masteller, 70, of Sidney, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1946, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Wallace and Jeanne (Butterlin) Masteller.

On Nov. 18, 1967, he married Lizabeth "Beth" Sanders, who survives him along with two sons, Tom (Shannon) Masteller, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Danny (Ellen) Masteller of Nashville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren and Rachel Masteller; one brother, Mike (Mary) Masteller, of Sidney; and three sisters, Evelyn (Charlie) Kuhn, of St. Louis, Missouri, Claire (John) Beyoglides, of Dayton, and Lisa (Rich) Viertel, of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

John worked in construction and served as a bridge superintendent for many years throughout the state of Ohio. Following retirement, he was owner and operator of Lazy B Farm & Excavating. John was a member of the Sidney Moose Lodge and Carpenters Union. In his free time, he enjoyed bicycling, golfing and fishing, but most of all spending time with his wife and family whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. Joe F. Pumphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
