CONOVER — Joseph E. Puckett Sr., 65, of Conover, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at his residence.

Joseph was born on June 29, 1949, in Saltville, Virginia, the son of Gladys (O'Quinn) Puckett, of Pemberton, and the late Ira Puckett. On Oct. 31, 1975, he married Rebecca A. (Newcomb) Puckett, of Conover, and she survives.

Joseph is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Newcomb, of DeGraff; children, Joe E. Puckett Jr., of St. Marys, Michael Puckett, of Waynesfield, Luke and Christina Vondenhuevel, of Sidney, Gustin and Ashley Puckett, of Kodak, Tennessee, Rebecca Lynn Puckett, of Sidney, Kaylee, Caleb, Seth, Christopher, Andrew and Harley Puckett, of Conover, and Alicia Leppla, of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Haley, Paige, Garrett, Daisy and Chase Vondenhuevel, Branden, Bailee and Malayna Puckett, Keisha, Michael and Brian Puckett and Caroline Puckett; foster children, Mary Combs, Jennifer Leppla and Henry Leppla; brothers and sisters, Danny Puckett, of Pemberton, Phil and Deb Puckett, of Sidney, Cathy Lenhart, of Cridersville; many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was also preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Christopher Vondenhuevel.

Joseph was a loving husband and father and shared his compassionate care for others by being a foster parent with his wife Rebecca. Together they were recognized as exceptional foster parents by the United States of America at the White House in Washington, D.C. For many years, Joseph had worked at Hartzell Propellar, in Piqua, Ohio. He spent most of his adult years as a car salesman and had acquired a collection of vintage cars throughout his career.

Joseph was also an avid Cincinnati Bengals Fan. He will be deeply missed by his family, co-workers and many friends.

Funeral services for Joseph will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio, 45365, with the Rev. Nathan Price officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.

Visitation hours will be Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Puckett family to help set up a college fund for Joseph's children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
