ANNA — Kay Richard Billing, 79, of Anna, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1937, in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Kah) Billing.

On June 1, 1957, Kay married Velma Gritzmaker and she survives along with their two children, Tim (Lori) Billing, of Sidney, and Renee (Joe) Peanasky, of Guntersville, Alabama; five grandchildren, Logan, Ariane, Trey, Stephanie and Nichole; three great-granddaughters; one sister, June Billing; and two brothers, Gene (Judi) Billing and Larry (Patty) Billing.

Kay was preceded in death by five siblings, Rosie Billing, Maxine Wilt, Virginia McIntyre, Mary Katherine Billing and Harold Billing.

After high school, Mr. Billing attended barber school in Toledo and was self-employed as a barber stylist in Anna for 45 years. He also was a realtor. In his younger days, Kay was a volunteer firefighter and even served as fire chief.

Kay was a member of the former Anna Civic Association and was on his church board. He enjoyed playing tennis, pickleball and vacationing in Florida with his wife. Kay loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.

Kay was a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Anna where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 with the Rev. Michael Althauser officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until hour of service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St., Anna, OH 45302 in memory of Kay Richard Billing.
