SIDNEY — Kermit E. Barnes, age 77, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Fair Haven Nursing Home.

He was born on April 18, 1939, in Clairfield, Tennessee, to Alonzo Barnes and Elizabeth Williams Barnes.

Kermit is survived by four daughters, Kathy White, of Sidney, Ohio, Pamela Trafzer, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gina (Bill) Freistuhler, of Sidney, Ohio, and Sherry (Jason) Arnold, of Sidney, Ohio; two sisters, Judy Boruff of Morristown, Tennessee, and Vickie Perro,n of Dania, Florida; two brothers, Jim Barnes, of Sidney, Ohio, and Ken Barnes, of Anna, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Ashley Asbury, Allan (Dani) Lovett, Meranda (Ben) Sherman, Brandon White, Austin Arnold, Kaleib Freistuhler, Alec Trafzer, Dylan Arnold, Cameron Arnold, Tristin Freistuhler, Peyton Arnold, Brennan Arnold, Ian Arnold and Landyn Arnold; five great-grandchildren, Aiden Webster, Keiren Asbury, Cayden Sherman, Liam Lovett and Lane Sherman.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Tressia Barnes, April 18, 2002.

Kermit retired after many years as a machinist. He loved watching the grandkids play baseball and football, playing cards, watching Me TV and all episodes of Gunsmoke.

Friends may call 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio, with the Rev. Phillip Chilcote officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wilson Memorial Hospice in his memory.
