SIDNEY — Lavern "Cricket" Patton, 82, of Sidney, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at her residence.

Lavern was born on Oct. 26, 1932, to the late Millard and Sweetie (Gibson) Stapleton. She was married to Lenvil Patton on Dec. 26, 1952, and he survives with four sons, Rick (Mary) Patton, of Maryville, Tennessee, Tim Patton, of Maplewood, Doug (Deanne) Patton, of Perry, Ohio, Ron (Stacy) Patton, of Sidney.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jake (Lindsey) Patton, Ginny (Chris) Pucci, Ben (Trisha) Patton, Courtney Patton and Kyle Patton; four great-grandchildren, Brandt, Colton, Alayna, and Joshua Patton; sisters, Vivian (Junior) Ousley, Dorothy Jean (Jack) Lovely, Mary Lou Ousley, all of Springboro; one brother, Claude (Nancy) Stapelton, of Springboro.

Lavern was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ancil and Clyde Stapelton, and one sister-in-law, Betty Stapelton, brother-in-law, Tom Ousley.

Lavern moved to the Sidney community with her husband in 1954 and had worked at the Stolle Corporation for more than six years as an inspector. She was a member of the Trinity Church of the Brethren and always looked forward to attending Sunday school and weekly church services. Lavern also served on the church's Board of Directors for many years.

Lavern was an avid reader and loved going out to eat. For more than 50 years, every Thursday, she would join her close friends for an evening out with the girls.

Memorial services for Lavern will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Trinity Church of the Brethren, 2220 N. Main Avenue, Sidney, Ohio, with Bret Driver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Miami County, P. O. Box 502, Troy, OH, 45373, in Lavern's memory. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
