KETTLERSVILLE - Leo R. Buehler, 86, of 8846 North St., Kettlersville, died at 1:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1927, in McCartyville, to Raymond and Dora (Meyer) Buehler. They preceded him in death. He was married Sept. 4, 1954, in Minster, to Mary L. Bernard. She died Nov. 27, 2006.
He is survived by his children, Phil and Joan Buehler, of Kettlersville, Jeff and Jill Buehler, of St. Henry, Steve and Alejandra Buehler, of Omaha, Neb., Joanie and Mike Prueter, of Kettlersville, Teresa and Ben Harshbarger, of Botkins, and David Buehler, of Brooksville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. One infant son, Joseph Buehler, is deceased. He also is survived by sisters, Virginia Boerger, of Minster, and Joan and Mark Krabbe, of Hamilton; a brother, John Buehler, of Dayton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Buehler, of McCartyville; brother-in-law, Merlin and Mary Bernard, of Minster.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roman Buehler and Orville Buehler, and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Boerger and Stan and Adele Bernard.
Leo was retired lifetime farmer, a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville, national director of the National Farmers Organization, former Kettlersville mayor and councilman, 36 years on Van Buren Township Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, McCartyville, veteran of World War II and Korean wars in the Navy, Anna American Legion and the youngest legion commander in the nation at that time. He will receive full military honors at the graveside.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church, the Rev. John Tonkin, presider. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church.
