Leonard Clune (1934 - 2017)

MINSTER — Leonard F. Clune, age 83, of Minster, Ohio, died at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1934, in Minster to the late Fred and Stella (Holdheide) Clune. He married Alma E. Steinke on Nov. 24, 1956, in Montezuma, Ohio and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2012.

He is survived by children, Jane and Ron Phlipot, Troy, Nancy and Wally Wagner, Minster, and Rick Clune, Piqua; sister, Vera Gudorf, Tipp City; brother, Bob and Susan Clune, Minster; sisters-in-law, Ann Clune, Denver, Colorado, Phyllis Clune, Buffalo, New York, and Delores Schwieterman, Maria Stein; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Elmer Clune, Edna and Oscar Stueve, Velma and Clete Heitbrink, Ernie Clune, Dorothy and Roger Schwieterman and in-law Merlin "Pete" Gudorf.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein. Leonard was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Maria Stein American Legion and VFW and a past commander of the American Legion.

He was a member of the New Bremen Rod and Gun Club, and avid card player and loved fishing and hunting. Leonard was a graduate of St. John High School and a lifelong farmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 20, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein, Ohio.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, and Thursday, April 20, from 9 to 10 a.m.
