SIDNEY — Margaret A. Jones, 68, of 2521 N. Main Ave., Sidney, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 8:02 p.m. at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1946, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Merton E. and Ruth Mary (Zehner) Maxwell.

On Aug. 16, 1980, she married James "Greg" Jones who survives along with one son, Shawn Jones and fiance, Tiegan Sims, of Watertown, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard E. "Dick" Maxwell and wife, Rosemary, of Westerville, and Edly B. "Ed" Maxwell and wife, Ricki, of Jackson Center; and special friend, Susan Williams and husband, Richard, of Hartville.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary E. Maxwell.

Mrs. Jones retired as a teacher for the Sidney City Schools after 38 years of service, 35 of them as a kindergarten teacher. She received the Teacher of the Year Award in 1995.

Mrs. Jones was a 1964 graduate of Jackson Center High School, received her bachelor's degree from Ashland College in 1968, and her master's degree from Wright State University.

Margaret was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church, where she participated in the choir and Dorena Circle. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Shelby County Retired Teachers, Pleiades Chapter 298 Order of Eastern Star, and was a board member at the Alpha Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Sidney First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service, at the church.

Memorials may be made to Sidney First United Methodist Church and the Alpha Center in memory of Margaret A. Jones.
