MINSTER — Marvin R. Monnin, age 73, of 224 N. Main St., Minster, Ohio, died 5:52 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, after a 10 month illness.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Robert and Helen (Mangen) Monnin. He married Barbara Wyen on Sept. 14, 1963, in Minster, Ohio. She survives in Minster.

He is also survived by daughter, Julie and Scott Stephens, Zionsville, Indiana; and son, Ted and Danettte Monnin, Cincinnati, Ohio' grandchildren Alexis and Daniel Stephens and Samantha, Gabriel and Sophia Monnin; brothers and sisters, Carolyn and Richard Mescher, North Star, Verl and Ann Monnin, McCartyville, Jackie Meyers, Anna, Ruth and Dick Pierron, Versailles, Roberta and Jim Duckworth, Indiana, Gregory Monnin, Massachusetts, Gene and Marilyn Monnin, Russia, Debbie Leber, Anna, Robert Monnin, Newport, and Trina and Bob Thobe, Versailles; in-laws Bob and Diana Wyen, McCartyville, and Tom and Joan Wyen, McCartyville.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Minster American Legion, Minster F.O.E. 1391 and Minster Knights of Columbus. He was a member and past president of the Minster Civic Association and 27-year member and past president of the Minster Area Life Squad and a member of the Minster Boosters.

He worked for 33 years at Minster Machine, four and a half years at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, 11 years as a bus driver with Minster Schools, eight years on Minster Town Council and on the Governing Board of Dorothy Love Retirement Community for three years. He was also a veteran of the Army Reserves.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
