NASHVILLE, Ga. — "Aunt" Mary Anne Jones was born in 1937 on Aug. 17 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to Echol and Sally Jones. She passed away April 22, 2016.

Mary was the youngest girl from a family of nine children. She has three siblings that survive. They are her brother, Delmer Jones, who is 93 and resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, along with a sister, Shirley Jones Murphy, and a sister, Virginia, that resides in Midway, Kentucky.

Mary was a great woman of faith. She loved to sing to the Lord. She sang many songs that she learned in her childhood while growing up in the beautiful mountains. Mary resided with Reba Jones, her sister-in-law, in Sidney, for 30 years, after the passing of her mother. Then she came to Nashville, Georgia, in 2004 and resided with her niece and nephew, John and Dink Booth. Mary has many nephews and nieces, as well as great- and great-great-nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed by many whose lives she touched.

She was a very wise woman in the ways of God. She taught many about humility, forgiveness, love and happiness and was a firm believer in prayer; and she would be the first to say, "Don't worry about anything, because God takes care of his people." She truly was a believer.

Nearly everyone who knew her called her Aunt Mary and she loved the fact that they all called her that. She was a member of Flat Creek Church in Nashville and she loved to go worship and praise the Lord. That was her extended family and she cared very deeply for them.

We will miss her singing, but we know that the Lord is listening to her now. God let us have the great privilege of knowing and loving Mary while here on earth, and for this we have been blessed.

A memorial service will be Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Flat Creek Church in Nashville, Georgia. Please come and help us celebrate this very special lady's life while she was here on earth and as she begins her new life in Christ. Brother Mickey Lindsey will officiate the service and we ask that anyone who would like to share things about Mary would feel free to do so.

Reflection Cremation & Funeral Service in Tifton, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements.
