SIDNEY — Merlin J. Tangeman, 99, of Sidney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.

He was born on March 3, 1916, in Kettlersville to the late Aerny and Amelia (Kettler) Tangeman. On Nov. 25, 1943, he married Elaine E. May. She preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2013.

Merlin is survived by nieces and nephews, Joe and Val May, of Botkins, Diane and Ray Jones, of Reynoldsburg, Doris and Dan Hall, of Clayton, and Barbara Weetman of Zionsville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Merlin was a member of the 1934 graduating class of Anna High School. He was also a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville. Merlin worked at Monarch Machine and Tool in Sidney for 18 years, as well as farming. He also owned and operated International Harvester Farm Store in Kettlersville. Merlin retired to Florida in 1968 with his wife, Elaine. They returned to Sidney in the past 20 years.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, with Chaplain Larry Oberdorf officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
