SIDNEY — Naomi M. (Grilliot) Schroeder, age 91, of Sidney, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Wilson Health.She resided on Hillcrest Court before moving to Dorothy Love Retirement Center in 2014.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1924, in McCartyville to the late Bernard and Frances (Drees) Grilliot.

Naomi was a homemaker, wife and mother. Later in life she worked at Dorothy Love Retirement Center as a housekeeper until her retirement in 1988. Naomi was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and volunteered at FISH thrift store for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and donated many afghans to local facilities. Every member of the family was graced with a handmade afghan upon life events. All of her children and grandchildren were outfitted with handmade clothing fashioned with a treadle sewing machine. She enjoyed collecting bells, thimbles and hummingbirds. She enjoyed baking and was known by the grandkids as "Grandma Cookie."

On Aug. 26, 1944, Naomi was married to Walter J. Schroeder in McCartyville. Walter preceded her in death May 7, 2015.

She is survived by son, Steve (Millie) Schroeder, of Sidney; daughters, Linda (Ed) Poore, of Loveland, Kathy (Jerry) Kingseed, of Sidney, Nancy (Larry) Bemus, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Cindy (Jeff) Cable, of Sidney, and Ann (Todd) McCafferty, of Botkins; 16 grandchildren, Joe (Valerie) Poore, of Cincinnati, Jeff (Amy) Poore, of West Chester, Brian (Shayna) Schroeder, of Springboro, Scott (Brandy) Schroeder of Cincinnati, Tony (Emily) Schroeder, of Brownsburg, Indiana, Kara (Chris) Eveslage, of Milford, Wendy (Sean) Moorman, of Fort Loramie, James (Katherine) Kingseed, of Maplewood, Jen (Mark) Lanno, of Douglasville, Georgia, Jackie Bemus, of Douglasville, Georgia, Chris (Kelly) Bemus, of Douglasville, Georgia, Julia Bemus, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Abby (Brian) Deal, of Bellefontaine, Lindsey (Josh) King, of Sidney, Sam McCafferty, of Botkins, and Grace McCafferty, of Botkins; four stepgrandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Wiford, of Sidney, Andrew (Kathi) Cable, of Sidney, Adam (Amy) Cable, of Sidney, and Samantha (Russell) Howard, of Mount Airy, Maryland; 21 great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Tristan, Landon, Brayden, Joey, AJ, Ben, Arwen, Nolan, Riley, Clay, Katy, Aiden, Jacob, Sidney, Jon, Alex, Eli, Baya and Jacob; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren, Owen, Sierra, Bailey, Hannah, Emma, Lily, Chloe, Addison, Rebecca, Ramiah and Aram; siblings, Ruth Gehrlich, of Orlando, Florida, Thelma Kaup, of Mount Healthy, Joan Grilliot, of Columbus, Marlene (Joe) Schwarz, of Fairfield, Tom Grilliot, of McCartyville, and Jerry (Doris) Grilliot, of Stockton, California.

Naomi was preceded in death by her siblings, Dolores (Grilliot) Frilling, Irene (Sister Vincent de Paul) Grilliot and Bernard (Bud) Grilliot.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church and Dorothy Love Retirement Center in her memory.
