SIDNEY — Oliver Franklin Eley, age 98, peacefully went home to God on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, in his home with daughter, Terri, by his side.

Oliver was born in Logan County to Fred and Anna Eley on Jan. 11, 1918.

Oliver retired from Baumfolder. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. He was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church.

Oliver was married to Eunice (Sprague) Eley for 66 years until her passing in 2009. He is survived by his children, Terri Eley, of Sidney, Patricia (Roger) Motter, of Fletcher, Dilsie (Rod) Hoblit, of Tennessee, and Mike (Davida) Eley, of Florida. He was blessed with nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arletha McDowel, of Huber Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 14 brothers and sisters.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Jane Madden and John Eley co-officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
