Otmar Bergman

MONTEZUMA — Otmar F. "Curly" Bergman, age 85, of Montezuma, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

He was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Maria Stein, to the late Lawrence and Frances (Bruns) Bergman. On July 11, 1970, he married Margaret 'Peg' (Kaiser) in Fort Recovery and she survives in Montezuma.

He is also survived by four sons, David Bergman, of Hamburg, Germany, Larry and Lisa Bergman, of Lisle, Ill., Rick and Amy Bergman, of Minster, and Joe and Beth Bergman, of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Joseph, Daniel, Sarah, Samuel, Justin, Tyler and Riley; siblings Jim and Faye Bergman, of Dayton, Anna Marie Osterloh, of Coldwater, and Larry and Jeanne Bergman, of Eygpt; in-laws, Ivalou Bergman, of New Bremen, Tom Minch, of Xenia, Robert and Barbara Kaiser ,of Hamilton, Chuck and Linda Kaiser, of Cincinnati, and Elaine Kaiser, of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Richard Bergman, Marinus Bergman, Irene Minch and Gene and Kate Bergman and in-laws, Theresa and Bob Willhoff, Ralph Osterloh and Jerry Kaiser.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein. He loved Marion Local Sports and was a member of the first St. John High School Football team. He volunteered at the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville. He worked as a tool and die maker and was a farmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Memorials may be made to the Center for Neurological Development.
