FORT LORAMIE — Patricia K. (Leist) Pleiman, age 60, of Mason Road in Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes early Tuesday morning, Dec. 10, 2013, at Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney. Pat had been fighting an ongoing battle with melanoma cancer for the past eight years.

She was born Feb. 17, 1953, in Piqua, to the late Donald Leist and Betty (Jones) Leist who survives in Houston. On May 5, 1973, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport, Pat married Ronald R. Pleiman and he survives.

Also surviving are three children, Shelly and Mark Kemper, of Minster, Nicole "Niki" and Corey Gasson, of Fort Loramie, and Aaron and Elizabeth Pleiman, of Troy; nine grandchildren, Courtney and Wyatt Kemper, Colten, Colin and Carter Gasson, Mekayla, Konner, Jayden and Tiffanie Pleiman; one sister, Brenda and Roy Gibson, of Sidney; brothers-in-law: Richard Stein, of Medina, and Gary and Karen Pleiman, of Sidney; mother-in-law, Mary (Pleiman) Schmiesing, of Fort Loramie; stepbrothers and sisters-in law, Barbara and Dennis Marchal, of Springboro, Gerald and Cindy Schmiesing, of Sidney, Eunice and Michael Ernst, of Minster, William Schmiesing, of Piqua, David and Diane Schmiesing, of Springboro, Jane and Lawrence Henderson, of Craig, Colo., Diane and Dennis Hoying, of Troy, Richard and Cindy Schmiesing, of Sidney, Frederick and Rebecca Schmiesing, of Minster, Mark and Brenda Schmiesing, of Sidney, Ronald Schmiesing and Kim Reinke, of Houston, Pamela and Tom Kerrigan, of Sidney, Jo Schmiesing of Piqua, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Donna Stein; father-in-law, Joseph Pleiman; and stepfather-in-law, Cletus Schmiesing.

Pat was a 1971 graduate of Houston High School. She was employed at Primary Eye Care in Fort Loramie where she had been an optometric assistant nearly 20 years. Pat attended St. Michael Catholic Church and had been an "Angels on Demand" volunteer for deployed soldiers. In her leisure time, Pat most enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with the Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
