Phyllis J. (Adams) Piper

A native of Sidney and resident of 3000 Cisco Road, Sidney, Phyllis J. (Adams) Piper, 97, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2013, at 1:25 a.m. at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Sidney on March 26, 1916, to the late Clyde and Ada (Johnston) Adams.

On March 28, 1937, Phyllis was married to Clarence "Bucky" Piper at the Pemberton United Methodist Church immediately following sunrise services. Bucky preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1994.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Tonya Sayre and her husband, Daniel, and son, Scott and his wife, Linda (Knasel) Piper, all of Sidney; grandchildren, the Rev. Pamela Sayre, of Chippewa Lake, Tracey Sayre Vondenhuevel, of Piqua, Maggi (J.T. ) Liesner, of Maplewood, Stacy Piper (Jason) Morrison, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jace (Casie) Piper, of Sidney; great-grandchildren, Alex and Erik Vondenhuevel, Josey Liesner, Ashton and Skyler Piper, Xandrea Piper, Hunter and Zoe Morrison; brothers, Dick (Barb) Adams, of Dorothy Love Retirement Community, and Robert (Shirley) Adams, of St. Louis, Mich.; sister-in-law, Kathy Adams, of Jackson Center.

Phyllis was preceded in death by one brother, Don Adams, and sister, Mary Jo (Warren) Pulfer.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pemberton United Methodist Church, in Pemberton. She was an active member of the church and enjoyed volunteering for their many activities. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's and Daughter's of the American Revolution. Phyllis was most proud of her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and supported their many school activities. She also enjoyed flower arranging, crafting and collecting antiques.

Funeral services will be celebrated for Phyllis on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Pemberton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Don Burley and the Rev. Pamela Sayre officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pemberton United Methodist Church, 6541 Main Street, Pemberton, Ohio, or to the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
