Ranzie Gambill Sr.

HOUSTON — Ranzie E. Gambill Sr., 80, of Houston, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born July 15, 1934, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Floyd and Lulie (Estep) Gambill. He married Wanda F. Lee March 28, 1960, in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include six children, Edward Gambill, of Phoenix, Arizona, Maggie (John) Cooper and Connie Evans, all of Birmingham, Alabama, Debbie Gambill, of Houston, Ranzie (Darla) Gambill Jr., of Fletcher, and Jackie (Allen) Guillozet, of Piqua; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Woody (Evelyn) Gambill, of Piqua, Dolly (Leonard) Young, of Sidney, Chester (Justine) Gambill and Wandalene (Ray) Hall, all of West Liberty, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Sargent, three brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Gambill possessed a strong work ethic as evidenced by his 48 years as an iron worker for the Local 290 of Dayton in addition to operating his own business, Gambill Erectors of Houston, during the same time. He enjoyed the outdoors particularly horseback riding, camping and hunting. He was known to love life, his family, and helping others. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

A service to honor his life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 21, 2015, at the Piqua Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Steve Spoon officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua.
