VERSAILLES — Raymond J. Francis, age 82, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at his residence.

Raymond was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Russia, Ohio, to the late Henry A. & Irene (Barga) Francis.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie (Monnin) Francis, whom he married April 17, 1998; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kay Francis, of Versailles; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kent Barga, of Versailles; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Kevin and Michelle Partin, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Brian and Lauren Partin, of Kingsport, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kyle and Jenny Francis, of Versailles, Andrea and Kyle Goubeaux, of Versailles, and Eric Barga of Highland Heights, Kentucky; stepgrandchildren, Joey, Autumn and Cody Partin, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Sydney and Ella Partin, of Kingsport, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Carter Francis, Zane Francis and Amelia Goubeaux of Versailles; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marty Francis, of Greenville; sister, Rita Goubeaux, of Osgood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Rita (Barga) Francis in 1993; five brothers and six sisters.

Raymond served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Ray worked as a mechanic. Raymond was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, life member of the Covington AmVets, Golden Eagle member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347 and the Versailles American Legion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with the Rev. James Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran's Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. A Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted by the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the Versailles Emergency Medical Service.
