FLETCHER — Richard C. "Dick" Newberg, 74, of Fletcher, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, in Kindred Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

Born on Aug. 26, 1941, Dick was a son of the late John V. and Esther L. (Jager) Newberg. He married Elaine Baker on Aug. 10, 1979, and she survives.

He is also survived by three children, Shanda (Judy Miller) Newberg, of Celina, Ohio, Mark (Melanie) Newberg, of Lebanon, Ohio, and Jamie Newberg of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Newberg, of Lebanon, Alec and Brent Newberg, of Troy, Dustin Patty, of Troy, and Natasha (R.J.) Gilardi of Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Bryan (Sue) Newberg, of Sidney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and John Newberg, and a sister, Sharon Hesley.

Growing up, Dick attended the Springcreek Baptist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Piqua Central High School and served in the Piqua Ohio Army National Guard. He was a salesman at Paul Sherry's in Piqua, a night auditor for the Marriot and Motel 6 in Troy, and he loved being Santa Claus at Christmas time for Walmart of Sidney. Dick loved fishing, the Cincinnati Reds, and Peyton Manning.

Memorial funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, Ohio. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home on Friday prior to the service.
