TAVARES, Fla. — Richard Horner, 78, of Tavares, Florida, formerly of Sidney, passed away at 10:43 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 30, 1937, in Cincinnati, the son of the late Roy and Nellie (Dyer) Horner.

On March 8, 1958, Richard married Joyce Clark, and she survives along with six children, Debra (Joe) Frilling, of Anna, Timothy (Elizabeth) Horner, of Piqua, Julie Fogt, of Sidney, Mara (Jim) Roesser, of Sidney, Christina (Brian) Tomsett, of Wapakoneta, Roy (Cara Brown) Horner, of Plattsville; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (John) Lewis, of Urbana, Virginia Ball, of Tavares, Florida; and his great dog-friend, Bandit. Richard was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amber Lynn Horner, and son-in-law, Tim Fogt.

Mr. Horner was a member of the Tavares First Methodist Church in Tavares, Florida. Richard was retired but worked many years for General Highway Express. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a 4-H adviser for many years, and he loved horses and going camping with horses. Richard enjoyed woodworking and going to flea markets, auctions and garage sales. He made many memories with his family and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Condolences may be expressed to the Horner family at the funeral home's website,
