SIDNEY — Richard Eugene Neer, resident of Sidney, Ohio, passed away Feb. 29, 2016. Born on Oct. 31, 1926, in Sidney, he was age 89.

His parents were Anna Gertrude (Pool) Neer (1895-1979) and Andrew Carl Neer (1894-1963).

His siblings were Roselle Webb (1917-2010), Donna Neer Van Horn (1919-2009), Herbert Neer (1920-1945), Ruth Ann Spyker (1922-2010), Christine Greer (1923-2013), Andrew Neer (1928-2009), Robert Neer (1933-2011), Gaylord Neer, of Ohio, and Jacque and Dave Neer, of Texas.

His children are Jeffery and Mark R. Neer, of Colorado, and Susan DePompei and Mark Barger, of Ohio.

His grandchildren are Brice, Leigh and Katie of Colorado, and Zach, Dom, Chelsea, Ben, Vince, Sophia and Adalyn, of Ohio.

His great grandchildren are Emi and Gio, of Ohio, and Many Gavin, Elise, Bailey, and Macy, of Colorado.

Richard was many things to many different people. An accomplished and professional artist. A decorated military veteran of both the U.S. Navy and Air Force serving active duty during time of war. A jet engine mechanic that kept our U.S. aircraft fighting in the air, enabling military victory during multiple conflicts. He was an avid historian of both genealogy and religion. But most importantly he was a loving, kind hearted, intelligent son, brother, husband and father. As a family man Richard excelled. As a family man he will be remembered.

A ceremony/eulogy will be followed by lunch at the Sidney American Legion on March 19, 2o16, at 1 p.m.
