MAPLEWOOD — Richard Eugene "Dick" Ward, 78, of Maplewood, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015, at his residence.

He was born on May 20, 1937, in Logan County, the son of the late Alonzo and Lena (Flora) Ward.

On Aug. 12, 1955, he was married to Janice Elaine Mummey, who survives him along with their two sons, Gregory Eugene (Helen) Ward and Mark Everett Ward, both of Sidney; two grandchildren, Michael (Kristi) Ward and Stephanie (Tyler) Everett, both of Sidney; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Alexander Ward, Landon Eli Everett and Nolan Jay Everett; and three siblings, Harold Ward, of Minster, Dale Ward, of Quincy, and Maxine Clark, of DeGraff. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Cecil Ward, Irene Spangler and Helen Watkins.

Dick was a retired construction worker. He was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1955. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, spending time at their cabin at the river and driving his golf cart around on a daily basis. Dick was a friend to many and dedicated to his family. He loved spending time with them, and especially enjoyed getting to see his great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at 10 a.m., at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Pastor Chad Inman officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry Port Salem Rescue, or Wilson Hospice in Dick's memory. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Ward family at the website,
