SIDNEY — Robert R. Humphrey, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Sidney on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at 4:16 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Uniontown, Ohio, the son of the late Walter and Stella (Smith) Humphrey.

A long-time resident of St Clairsville, Ohio, he and his wife of 67 years, Licia, had moved to Sidney three years ago. He grew up in Southeastern, Ohio, served in the US Army in World War II and was stationed in Italy where he met his wife. Following a long career in the coal mining industry he pursued his passion for golf and worked over 20 years at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Licia Maria (Colombo) Humphrey, one son, Dr. Michael (Lori) Humphrey, and two grandsons, Ian and Jaden Humphrey, all of Sidney.

In keeping with Mr. Humphrey's wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the hour of service.
