PIQUA — Robert L. Snipes, 78, of Piqua, died at 10:08 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Scary, West Virginia, to the late Fred and Opal (Chandler) Snipes Sr. He married Rosalie A. Wise on June 29, 1968, in Sidney, and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Teressa Chmiel, of Block Island, Rhode Island, and Shelley (Chuck) Black, of Piqua; a son, Greg (Caryn Scott) Snipes, of Piqua; a granddaughter, Alexis Snipes; and a sister, Jean (Roger) Baker, of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Wolcott) Snipes, and a brother, Fred Snipes Jr.

Mr. Snipes was a graduate of Northwestern High School, Springfield and was a successful self employed Food Broker. He was a former member of the Warren Masonic Lodge 24 of Piqua and the Moose Lodge of Sidney. He enjoyed golf and loved being with his family. He will be remembered for his zest for life and embracing the friendship of others.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, with the Rev. Max Jackson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
