SIDNEY — Rudolph M. "Rudy" Trissell, 98, formerly of Piqua, passed away at 9:36 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in the Health Care Unit of Ohio Living Dorothy Love, Sidney.

He was born, Sept. 8, 1918, in Mercer County, to the late Clarence and Lucille "Lucy" (Rush) Trissell. He married Lyndel Petry, Sept. 28, 1980, in Piqua, and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Marla (David) Datz, of San Diego, California, Carol (Jim) Stull, of Scottsdale, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Trissell, of Laura, and Ann Marie, of Dayton. He was preceded in death by a son, Phil Putterbaugh, a sister and three brothers.

Mr. Trissell was a 1937 graduate of Piqua Central High School, worked with John Carpenter Construction for many years before becoming a self employed contractor and later worked with the Ohio Historical Society and Johnston Farm, from which he retired after 23 years of employment. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Bradford Church of the Brethren and Piqua Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, square dancing and being a mentor for the Piqua City School District. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with Chaplain Larry Oberdorf officiating and Jeff Petry participating.
